Admission process and teaching methodology

How a child joins Regency, and how they are taught once they are here.

Step by step

The admission process

Admission is on the basis of available seats in the class applied for.

  1. 01Collect the registration form from the school office, or send an enquiry through this website and the office will guide you.
  2. 02Submit the completed form with the child's birth certificate, a transfer certificate from the previous school where applicable, recent report cards and passport-size photographs.
  3. 03The child meets a member of staff for an age-appropriate interaction; for higher classes this includes a written assessment in English, Mathematics and Science.
  4. 04Parents are called for a short conversation about the child's background, health and any learning support needed.
  5. 05On selection, admission is confirmed once the admission fee and the first instalment of fees are paid at the office.
  6. 06The class teacher then issues the booklist, uniform requirement and house allotment before the child's first day.

Teaching methodology

Lessons move from the concrete to the abstract. In the junior school this means objects, stories and activity before symbols; in the senior school it means worked examples and discussion before formal problem sets. Teachers are expected to check understanding within the lesson rather than discover a gap at the end of a unit.

Written work is corrected and returned, and pupils are asked to redo work that falls short. Laboratories are used for the practical syllabus rather than demonstration alone, and the computer and language resource rooms are timetabled, not optional.

Assessment is continuous: class tests, unit tests and terminal examinations together form the record a parent sees, so the final examination is never the first sign of trouble.
